What we do
The Australian Education Research Organisation (AERO) works towards excellent and equitable outcomes for all children and young people by advancing evidence-based education in Australia. We do this by generating high-quality evidence, making high-quality evidence accessible and enhancing the use of evidence in Australian education.
Our work
AERO undertakes research that helps us achieve our goal of excellence and equity in education for all Australian children and young people through effective use of evidence.
In consultation with education professionals, policymakers and researchers across Australia, we develop and prioritise research projects based on greatest potential impact and greatest need. Some projects are conducted internally, some are commissioned to or partnered on with others. These research projects produce new evidence and/or synthesise existing evidence on the effectiveness of specific educational practices, programs or policies on a range of child and student outcomes.
We translate research findings into tools and resources that are easy to access and use. In doing this, we aim to enhance the use of evidence-based practices in schools and early childhood services.
Consultation
We consult regularly across the education sector to inform our decision-making and priorities. Please find our consultation reports published below.
