The Australian Education Research Organisation (AERO) has published a series of resources to help school leaders take a deliberate and structured approach to implementing evidence-based teaching practices.

Background

AERO is working with a small number of Australian schools to support them to implement evidence-based teaching practices in their specific context. We do this by supporting school leaders to use a deliberate and structured approach to implementation, which has been developed by operationalising key concepts from research.

The resources on this page are informed by implementation research and our work with Australian schools. We're committed to sharing what we're learning about implementation and will be adding resources to this collection over time, so please check back regularly.

Types of implementation resources

We have different types of resources available to support your implementation needs:

  • Explainers that discuss the key research and frameworks that underpin our approach to implementation and how we have operationalised these concepts in schools. Use these to develop your understanding of taking an evidence-informed approach to implementation.
  • A discussion paper that shares our early insights from supporting Australian schools to implement evidence-based teaching practices as part of the Learning Partner project. Read this paper and discuss the reflection questions when planning and preparing for implementation.
  • Practical resources developed from the materials we have been using directly with schools to support leaders to engage in a deliberate and structured approach to implementation. The format of these practical resources includes guides, modules, templates and worked examples. Use these resources to support your school's implementation process.
